About the Program

This degree program is taught entirely online to accommodate the needs of working professionals seeking to balance work, study, and personal life. In addition, the fully online curriculum enables students to save on the costs associated with study abroad and living expenses in the United States, while still receiving a top-tier legal education.

The program's comprehensive international business-focused curriculum provides rigorous academic training in areas such as international trade law, cross-border transactions, investment arbitration, and regulatory compliance.

Courses are taught in English by experienced Temple Law professors and by adjunct professors who are expert practitioners in their fields. The program is acquiesced by the American Bar Association (ABA).

Graduates of the program will emerge with a sophisticated understanding of the legal frameworks governing global commerce and be able to manage the complex challenges of today's business landscape with confidence and expertise.

Time Limit for Degree Completion: 1 year

Students must complete 24 units over four terms to earn the Online LL.M. degree: Fall I (September-October), Fall II (November-December), Spring (March-April), and Summer (May-June).

Campus Location: Online

Full-Time/Part-Time Status: The degree program can be completed on a full-time basis.

Admission Requirements and Deadlines

Degree Required for Admission Consideration: To be eligible to apply, international applicants must have received one of the following degrees from an accredited university degree program:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.)
  • Master of Laws (LL.M.) or higher law degree

Alternatively, individuals who have passed the bar or lawyer's license exam in their home jurisdiction may apply for the program.

Students who have earned a J.D. degree in a common law country are not eligible for this degree.

Those admitted will have excellent school records, strong letters of recommendation, and satisfactory English competence. Applicants are not required to take the LSAT or GRE. However, proof of English proficiency is required, either by submitting official TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English Test or equivalent English assessment exam results (see Application Procedure below for specific requirements). Applicants will be informed if the Admissions Committee decides that an interview is necessary.

The Admissions Committee carefully examines all parts of the application and considers each application on an individual basis. All decisions are final.

Number of Credits Required to Earn the Degree: 24

The online Master of Laws (LLM) in International Business Law program will prepare students for international business law careers by engaging students in four eight-week terms (seven weeks of classes plus one week for exams) between September and June of each academic year. Students will gain exposure to a large number of subject areas and a general understanding of business law. All Fall I term courses will be required. Courses taught in the Fall II, Spring and Summer terms will be offered as electives. The electives may be offered in any term, with some suggestions below (provided for reference.)
