OPHT M322. Career Exploration of Ophthalmology. 0 Credit Hours.

This elective will allow students to gain exposure to the specialty and the types of health conditions experienced by patients seen by providers in this specialty as healthcare team members.

OPHT M620. Ophthalmology. 0 Credit Hours.

This clinical elective will expose students to the basics of the ocular examination, with emphasis on the use of the ophthalmoscope. Students will develop the skills necessary to recognize normal and abnormal eye findings, as well as those systemic diseases that manifest in the eye. Students learn the basics of the management of eye trauma, other ocular emergencies, motility disorders, central nervous system eye findings, common external diseases, and retinal diseases.

This course is for students applying for ophthalmology residency. Students will be assigned to work closely with 1-2 faculty in the clinical setting.
